2. Dolphin IX Adapter Card Installation

Make sure you are properly grounded to avoid static discharges that may destroy the adapter card or your computer before opening the computer or removing the Dolphin PCI Express IX card from the anti static bag.

To install an adapter into a Cluster Node, it needs to be powered down. Insert the adapter into a free PCI Express slot that matches the adapter:

Note

To get optimal performance, it is recommended to install the IXH610 adapter in a PCI Express Gen2 slot.

When the card is properly inserted and fixed, close the enclosure and power up the Cluster Node again. The Link LED on the adapter slot cover should have an orange color.

Please also verify that the NTB LED is green. This indicates that the EEPROM SELECT DIP switch is set correctly for running the Dolphin software. If the LED is dark - you need to uninstall the card again and modify the EEPROM SELECT setting (Should be set to OFF when running the Dolphin software).

Proceed this way with all Cluster Nodes. It is recommended that all Cluster Nodes are set up identically, thus use the same slot for the adapter (if the Cluster Node hardware is identical).

You do not yet need to connect the cables at this point. Generally, the cables can safely be connected and disconnected with the Cluster Nodes powered up as Dolphin IX is a fully hot-plug capable interconnect.

Note

If you know how to connect the cables, you can do that now. Please inspect and verify that the cabling is correct as described in the remainder of this chapter.
