The DXS410 switch was introduced on the market in 2006 and provides a fast PCI Express Gen1 solution. The product is still available and supported, but new projects are recommended to migrate to the new IX product family.
High performance applications for the telecommunication, financial, and web 2.0 infrastructure markets require fast response times, high throughput and high availability. A key enabler to gaining acceptance in these markets is the practice of clustering multiple industry standard servers using a high-speed network to provide outstanding performance at a fraction of the cost of traditional large scale server applications. PCI Express is quickly being adopted as the I/O interconnect of choice in these industry standard servers platforms. Dolphin’s PCI Express clustering products integrate the ubiquity of PCI Express with the requirements for cluster computing.
The Dolphin DXS410 PCI Express Cluster Switch provides an economical, high performance switching solution based on PCI Express. As part of Dolphin’s PCI Express clustering products, this 10 port 1RU cluster switch helps create the only PCI Express based cluster solution with highbandwidth, low-latency and 100% software compatibility for the database and embedded cluster customers.
The DXS410 is a ultra low latency switch with 10 high speed non-blocking ports each capable of 10 Gbps per port and configurable to support 20 Gbps to hosts or I/O subsystems. The 10 powered ports provide the flexibility of either copper or fiber-optic interface configurations. The DXS410 is part of an overall Dolphin Express solution that includes host adapters, I/O expansion systems, and Dolphin’s SuperSockets software libraries. This overall combination provides a fast and reliable communication solution for applications that benefit from an ultra-low latency, high performance cluster interconnect.
